The program agenda of Habitat II, presented at the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements in Istanbul in 1996, will be addressed, emphasizing the need to meet housing demand from a comprehensive perspective.This approach not only provides a roof to shelter people but also ensures thermal comfort, adequate sanitation, and adaptation to the environmental conditions surrounding the home.

Through IDBAcademy, this course offers insights from experts in urban development, sustainability, and housing policies, providing skills to plan, design, and manage housing solutions that improve people’s quality of life.

In this module, we will address the basic concepts of what constitutes green and resilient housing, the tools that can be used to design them, as well as the progress made in the region regarding green buildings.
In this module, we will learn about a step-by-step roadmap that outlines best practices for achieving green housing through design, or resilient housing through applicable technologies. We will also explore several certifications that serve as tools to evaluate whether a green housing design meets the required standards, as well as clarify that there may be both certified and non-certified housing.
In this final module of the course, we will review some of the most common types of financing products and incentives for green and resilient housing, as well as examples of projects that the Bank is financing for the economic and social development of the region.
