It helped me better understand in-context learning and working with unformatted text data. I was able to start using the techniques immediately. Jules White is a very pragmatic instructor.

Unlock the full potential of generative AI and become a master of prompt engineering. Dive deeper into how you can use In-context Learning to build better and more reliable prompts. See how Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) works and what can go wrong that you can counteract with fact-checkable prompt formats. Overcome your struggles in getting the right output from generative AI models with template-based output formats to achieve precision in your interactions with AI models. Tap into powerful AI capabilities for tasks ranging from social media comment analysis to survey results interpretation and beyond. This course will empower you with the skills needed to build exceptional prompts, using simple techniques, such as preference-driven refinement, and become and expert in leveraging generative AI for productivity and creativity. What You Will Learn: In-Context Learning: Understand how to provide context within prompts to guide AI models towards more accurate and relevant outputs. Learn techniques to embed contextual information that enhances the model’s understanding and performance. Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG): Explore how to integrate retrieval systems with generative models to provide more precise and informed responses. This module covers the mechanisms to combine the strengths of both retrieval and generation. Template Pattern and Examples: Master the art of crafting template-based prompts to achieve consistent and desired outputs. Learn how to tell generative AI to fit its output into your format and overcome struggles with getting exactly what you want. Tapping Into AI Capabilities for Everyday Use: Delve into practical applications such as analyzing social media comments, interpreting survey results, and other everyday tasks where generative AI can make a significant impact. Gain hands-on experience with real-world examples. Building Great Prompts: Discover simple methods for constructing effective prompts. Learn how preference-driven refinement can elevate your prompt engineering skills, ensuring that outputs meet your exact needs and preferences.

DA
This course went much deeper than my expectation and gave me an understanding of how LLMs work so that I can think through my prompt engineering solutions.
DV
Jules has so much insight into prompt engineering and why what he is teaching is important. I really appreciate his approach to teaching.
CJ
The delivery of this course was clear, and the assignments allowed for a direct application of the material. Thank you for sharing your expertise, Professor Jules White.
JP
Great course, very clearly explained, and the skills labs provide a timely way to practice the lecture material. Recommended!
GT
As with all of your other classes this is outstanding. Thank you for producing professional prompt engineering classes.
UK
Beautifully crafted, point-to-point explanation, thoughtfully designed assignments. Thank you for such a great course.
MK
Very clearly presented. Level of enthusiasm, explanation and engagement have been really appreiated.
MS
This was such an interesting and useful course! Really enjoyed it and look forward to doing more courses by Jules.
LB
Very good course, my only feedback was the examples were sometimes a little convoluted - maybe work with a real life example outside of promoting your genaicourse.
S
Not bad, but you would have had to worked with ChatGPT or an AI client or be taking a course in Large Language Models (LLM) to kind of understand what is going on.
AL
This is a must-take course if you are keen in advancing your prompt engineering knowledge and skillset gameplan. It gets better as Dr Jules White spins deeper iterations on prompt engineering.

11/10, as are all of J.White's courses. I think I will end up taking every one of them. Just a superb educator. To take these courses in March 2025, I have had to resort to using Copilot and Gemini as well, to get around data limits, but it works out. But we also really need a *complete course on RAG* (lightly touched on in this course). Even when you demand that the GPT cite sources, and create citations on data you supply, it STILL often hallucinates entire research papers, for example. It's enormously difficult to get RAG to happen, in terms of hanging it together technically, it working properly logically, and the cost in time and money. When you get past the "parlor trick" level of GenAI, RAG is where the rubber meets the road; just getting it to compute some process over some specific data, and it's easier said than done. Right now there is a dark valley between analyzing a couple documents with ChatGPT, and doing a ton of coding to do proper RAG. Looking forward to future Vanderbilt classes.
"Jules White Demystifies Prompt Engineering—A Must-Take Course for the AI Enthusiast" Prompt engineering may seem challenging, but Jules White makes it accessible and engaging. White offers a deep understanding that feels more like a revelation than a lesson, with clear explanations that make complex AI concepts understandable. This course is not just about gaining knowledge; it’s about addressing overlooked gaps in learning. Whether you’re experienced or new to the field, White's instruction provides the tools to effectively use AI in today’s fast-paced business environment. This isn’t just another online course—it’s a guide to mastering AI, delivered by a teacher who makes learning profound, engaging, and meaningful.
This course introduces practical examples of the iterative process of using genAI tools and highlights the importance of blending instructions with examples to harness the power of LLMs. It introduces many new ideas that can be incorporated into your prompts for one-time outputs from genAI tools or to be used as templates for similar recurring tasks, thereby allowing you the freedom and time to focus on thinking, ideation, solutions, and brainstorming. The scope, depth, and breadth of the tips and ideas this course touches cannot be mentioned in a short review. If you are a regular and/or an avid gen AI user, this course will surely be a good investment of your time.

I've been using chatGPT since the start and the course provided me with the necessary insight that I can use in my profession. This course is highly recommended even for advanced users.
Great presentation of some advanced prompt patterns / techniques ! This is another step on the way to mastering Prompt Engineering :-) Recommended for all genAI users.
Great course, very clearly explained, and the skills labs provide a timely way to practice the lecture material. Recommended!
Lots to learn that goes beyond the basics - I found it a good follow-up to the first prompt engineering course. Enthusiastic instructor who is easy to listen to.
Dr. White is dazzling as usual. He uses real world examples that relate directly to my profession. He's a programmer with a poet's heart. Highly recommended!

I really appreciated the graded assignment portion. it helped me better understand the concepts
Very good course, my only feedback was the examples were sometimes a little convoluted - maybe work with a real life example outside of promoting your genaicourse.
Good kickstart, surely for everyone, BUT not advanced at all, I fear it wasted my time.
very poor course and pretty much out of date
very poor audio quality and echo in module2
Very generic. Just scratching the surface.
