In simple terms, the Industry of the Future refers to the integration of various digital technologies into manufacturing, leading to a radical transformation of the industry and the nature of work within it. This module introduces the concept of Industry 4.0, presents the technologies involved, and discusses their impacts on work processes. This module explores narratives and visions regarding the future of work. We will begin by reviewing four main narratives that shape our imagination about the future and the evolution of work. It is important to note that the future is still open and full of possibilities. Next, we will examine four potential scenarios that are less radical and more short-term than the previous narratives. Guided by the principles outlined in the Democratize Work Manifesto, we will propose three key principles that we believe are worth advocating for. Finally, we will conclude with a panel discussion featuring some contributors to this MOOC.
