Data Visualization and Dashboards with Excel and Cognos was the first course on the platform that disappointed me. Obviously, Excel and Cognos (which were new to me) are great tools. But I felt lost, confused, and frustrated trying to follow the lab modules - and especially the final exam. It seemed at times the provided links and instructions were not in sync with the IBM Cognos platform - as if the course was outdated. Anyway, I did learn quite a bit, but it certainly required me to figure out plenty on my own.

Very basic- good for total beginners. Antiquated teaching methods employed, focus on recall rather than comprehnsion. Quite dated data visualization concepts. Kind of stupid to use the Excel online app, not super user friendly and not equivalent to real life Excel usage. Cannot take assessments without "signing up" for a free 7 day trial but there is never an explanation of what I am signing up for. I already have Coursera Plus so what am I signing up for?

Too few explanations, it's all about clicking some buttons without much thought about why you would perform one or another analysis. Sometimes the graphs generated in the lab were without meaning. It's more about how to click some buttons to generate some ad hoc graphs rather than teaching you how to think about which graph to chose. Useful in this limited sense.

The field on the assignment submission does not seem to behave normally. Whenever I type something in it, the cursor will always move to the end of the value, not to mention often characters I typed will eventually gone, so I have to type the character/letter again.

Cognos seems to have an issue too. It runs frustratingly slow and often does not respond.

This is a good course. The only bad part is the peer review for the final assignment. It holds you up from completing the course. If no one reviews your assignment or you miss points, you end up not finishing the course leading to a poor experience. In my opinion, the peer review part is unnecessary. All that work and you can end up never finishing.

The instructions for how to navigate Cognos need to be carefully reviewed and updated as some of them seem like they are no longer accurate.

Also, the narrator for the Cognos videos speaks way too fast and mumbles through a lot of the words. Please change the narrator. In comparison, the narrator in the Excel videos is far superior for learning.

The course is well structured and provides great hands on experience. However unable to complete the project/assignment in Cognos Analytics due to technical issues that multiple users are experiencing. Trouble shooting provided by moderators has not resolved the issue. So much time spent on trouble shooting that could be spent on learning.

The Excel part of the course is excellent. Easy to understand, easy to try, easy to remember.

The Cognos part of the course is a disaster. The problem in the Labs 4, 5, and 6 was known more than a year ago and wasn't solved for all this time. It seems like the person who created the Labs didn't prepare well.

The datasets for the Labs are full of errors and need some manipulation if you are outside of US. The assistants were not too helpful in solving these issues. A better dataset and/or a word of warning would make the exercises less frustrating and the whole course experience much better.

The interface is not modern. Knowledge seems basic, but the way of it sharing is a bit boring: just PPTX slides without animation. Task for very very begginers: first task was "we will teach you how to log in in Office". Frankly speaking, it is not the level, that I expected.

Doesn't get much in depth. You drag things on the canvas, or double click things - but you don't learn much of the theory of why you're choosing those types of charts, or why you're creating those analyses. It's more of a "do what I just did" demonstration course.
