This is exactly the same material I learned during my first accounting semester at college, a 5 unit course, but for a minuscule fraction of the price. Many people struggled with that class, (hence the 5 units) but if you enjoy real world problems and numbers you'll feel right at home. Expect additional learning outside of coursera, as some questions require it. Lastly, and I can't emphasize this enough; if you haven't fully understood a specific concept, do NOT move on. You MUST understand every concept before moving forward, as almost everything in this course builds upon the previous lesson. I know this may sound obvious, but, unlike with a regular math course, it really helps to picture the problem as you're reading it. Picture the transaction in your mind as you're carrying out the steps to find the solution. Best of luck!

The only assignment that I found confusing, or that I feel may give some students a particularly difficult time, is the second to last assignment, or the "case study" that is required to be completed in order to complete the final quiz. I just found that certain elements were poorly described and not detailed enough. Also, the invoices for the Smiths and the Martins are mixed up: the description says that the Martin's are invoiced for $250 though the General Journal shows $750 and vice versa regarding the Smith family. This greatly confused me for a short while until I took a closer look at the paid invoices at the end of the month. Other than this one technical issue, the course should be smooth sailing for any student as long as they pay attention and read over the material carefully. And TAKE NOTES!

I have applied for the Financial Aid and I want to thank you first for accepting my application. First impression when I started the course, funny. Why? Because Bianca is so awesome and her sense of humor is one of a kind. It helped me feel engaged in the discussions and not get bored. I also like when there's first an issue with Lou, and then Bianca will help him solve it. The most important part were the statement by some experts about certain topics in the course and the discussions after learning new things. Another amazing part of this experience is the walk through in the QuickBooks Online especially that Bookkeepers and Accountant use this software a lot. I may also use my learnings and experience in the future when I apply for a job. I am planning on taking the next 3 courses too.

Overall course was great it had good clear objectives to meet and topics to understand. The final course for bookkeeping basics was very helpful. Attempting to calculate my own values for "Lou" the fictitious client using the chart of accounts, general journal and general ledger to complete values for the income statement was extremely helpful. My suggestion is after a student completes the assignment and also completes the exam related to that assignment, if a student enters a incorrect answer. Show them how to obtain the correct value for those items on the income statement instead of just displaying the correct value because then the student won't see what or how they have calculated incorrectly, it can help prevent future mistakes and give the student a better understanding.

I had basic Accounting knowledge before taking the Intuit Bookkeeping Course. I have learned more about Bookkeeping and Accounting as I take each Course. I am looking forward to completing this course and pursuing a career in bookkeeping. It is challenging and rewarding. I have developed a sense of pride learning this course and I am looking forward to completing Bookkeeping Basics and all courses pertaining to bookkeeping. I feel once I have I will have a lot to offer a business or businesses. Thanks for making this possible without leaving my home and allowing me to learning at my own pace. This is a five star class it is easy to learn of course you will have to take notes, and you can pass it. As long as you invest the time and really focus on the subject. I have taken Accounting one and Accounting two and this course is a brigdge between them because not only does it gives an overview of accounting concepts, but I honestly felt like I was back in my accounting courses. The resources are very helpful. The Quickbook software also added to a rounded foundation in Bookkeeping. I loved this course and I recommend it to everyone. You will not be disappointed!!!!!

Its a great course for a beginner in bookkeeping. The new updated lessons are very good compare to that with cartoons animation that is annoying. The new updated course was professional and learnings are great to start. As a beginner in Bookkeeping, this lessons help me a lot to understand the basics of bookkeeping and after the course 1 im able to do bookkeeping at my own. This course is additonal to my previous course i done. Im happy and satisfied in this course as part of my bookkeeping skill/journey.

I really enjoyed this first course, and now I’m excited to move on to the second course of the four-part series! This course was super detailed yet easy to follow, making the basics of bookkeeping much less intimidating. The explanations of key accounting assumptions, revenue and expense recognition, and the differences between accrual and cash accounting were clear and practical. Overall, it gave me confidence in handling basic financial records and strengthened my foundational knowledge in accounting.

I had a basic understanding of double entry accounting from earlier in my career and had used a different accounting program to do book for a construction company that I owned. This was a terrific course and covered all of the necessary topics to handle the majority of issues that normally arise when preparing company books. I would recommend that anyone interested in pursuing employment as a bookkeeper complete this training as it will ensure that you have the skills needed for the job. C E Smith

I have taken a small accounting class before, so the concepts were not entirely foreign to me. I thought the material was well-presented, well-organized, and easy to understand. I read a lot of complaints about the animated characters, but I honestly thought that they helped make great examples of the content and kept it from being monotonous and boring! For the price I paid, I felt like this course was a great value. I am looking forward to the remainder of the courses in this series.

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Glad that I decided to go forward and take this course! This course was so fun, informative, helpful and I am having fun learning in the process. I was stalling with different sites and hesitant to go forward in doing what it takes to secure my future in accounting. One day, I will be able to say I did it and i'll be your future bookkeeper/auditor. It's coming and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Thank you, Coursera and "Bianca" lol. I completed the Intuit Bookkeeping Basics course on July 30, 2023, before taking this course I don't have any idea about Bookkeeping. I think the quality of the content is good.

The course covered the essential and basic topics of bookkeeping. The course also included practical exercises and quizzes to test my understanding and skills. I learned a lot from this course

I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn or improve their bookkeeping skills.

Bianca is surprisingly pleasant and easy to follow. Adding comments and further instruction by live professionals and experts makes the course feel personal. I haven't taken any purely online courses so I wasn't sure what to expect. However I did believe it was going to be rather cut and dry. A lot of reading and tiring exercise, after exercise. The format is very, very easy and inviting. I don't dread getting to the course. Nice job so far.

I thought the course was very informative. The course was easy to get through because of the reality TV show setting. Using a the business owner Lou to demonstrate the bookkeeper's role in helping a business owner made bookkeeping clear and less obscure to me. The teacher Bianca gave clear expanations of most of the topics and the real bookkeepers used throughout the course are very helpful in explaining the key concepts used in the real world.

A great course that actually teaches in-depth knowledge about the basics of accounting. As an experienced bookkeeper I was doing this course as a quick refresher, but ended up picking valuable knowledge up along the way. The course keeps you engaged from start to finish and has a better teaching style than some (if not most) paid post-secondary courses. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to take a step into the world of bookkeeping!

I LEARNED A LOT OF NEW AND INTERESTING THINGS ON THIS COURSE. I ONLY THOUGHT THAT BOOKKEEPERS ONLY DEAL WITH BALANCING BOOKS OF ACCOUNTS NOTHING MORE THAN THAT. BUT I ALSO LEARNED THAT THEY ALSO ARE RESPONSINBLE WITH MANAGING ACCOUNTS PAYABLE, GENERATING FINANCIAL STATEMENTS AND RECORDING FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS. THIS COURSE HAS OPENED MY MIND ON A LOT OF THINGS, I NOW ETHICAL AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF A BOOKKEEPER.

I truly enjoyed this course! I can't wait to take Assets in Accounting, Liabilities in Accounting, and Analyzing Financial Statements. Coursera is very user friendly, and the staff are awesome to work with! If it weren't for Coursera/Intuit's excellent courses in Bookkeeping, I wouldn't have been able to totally absorb so much about bookkeeping! Did I mention that I love Coursera's extremely cheap prices?

The Bookkeeping Basics course provided a clear and structured introduction to fundamental accounting principles. It enhanced my understanding of recording transactions, managing expenses, and preparing financial statements. The course combined theoretical knowledge with practical application, equipping me with the skills to maintain accurate financial records and analyze business performance effectively.

I am a complete beginner when it comes to bookkeeping. This course helped me to better understand not only the role of a bookkeeper, but also what a bookkeeper does from a practical standpoint. The case study at the end of the course was a little tough at first, but after some independent research and looking over notes, I understood how to properly use the general ledger to create a financial statement.

I learned a lot about bookkeeping concepts and practices. I like how the material was presented in a variety of formats and that there were practice quizzes throughout. The final exercise which involved entering transactions in the Genera Ledger , then the corresponding amounts in the Trial Balance and Income Statement helped pull a lot of the concepts and skills together for me.
