This course surprised me in its applicability to software development. It is a great first course in establishing a foundation of programming before actually doing any programming itself.

Great course for anyone wanting to get into Software Engineering, or a great refresher for those who have SE experience but need to fill in any gaps they may have. Highly recommended!

many of the exam questions would ask something, while the answers would be written in the same style, so it would be something like: Bob likes pizza, what should you buy for dinner? 1. Something round 2. Something hot 3. Something with meat 4. Something with wheels This kind of a question makes me thing that an early, EARLY, AI wrote these questions and nothing was checked. There are also many questions that do not specify context, and without context 2 or sometimes even 3 answers would be correct, but with the missing context (implied) there is only 1 correct, which you notice when you retake the quiz and see the same answers with a different question (differently worded, and no including that context) Many of the videos of the "professionals" explaining things almost entirely contradict what is being taught, like: How important is A? person 1: very important person 2: not important person 3: depends on the company you work for ...this is confusing and irrelevant to the teaching, so why is contradictory information used? The videos are presented robotic and dry and the ungraded assignments have you copying and pasting without explaining or describing why. I am not a monkey at a typewriter, I do not need to learn how to copy and paste. I know this is introductions, but it would be better to leave this out completely than wasting the time it takes to copy paste for no reason.

The content in the video modules were decent and the overall organization of the materials were fair. However, the quiz questions were extremely poorly worded - many questions did not have obvious definitive answers due to how poorly worded and vague they were structured. Additionally, the AI job search module was poor and frustrating. The AI module would rate down an answer, saying I should have said another specific answer instead. However, when I included that same specific answer on the next attempt, the module still rated that answer down.

A lot of poorly phrased questions. Much of the information is way too general. For example how programming syntax is explained from such a broad perspective, it is more difficult to understand then actually understanding programming. This intro course is good, if you're actually already familiar with programming as a means to buffer out your foundation, but if I was't already familiar I don't think much of this would have been useful (and it definitely wouldn't stick).

Robotic voice and boring, theoretical and text heavy presentations. It does give a general overview of software engineering, so the content is not entirely useless, but the course feels outdated and the AI voice is annoying. A lot of theoretical content is being "stated" without relating it to applications or explaining how it actually works in real life, so I doubt anyone will remember these details. Definitely needs an update and human instructors

That is very confusing without real world examples. Often in architecture it was just a useless slideshow of words for complex things.
