课程概述

This course will expose you to the transformation taking place, throughout the world, in the way that products are being designed and manufactured. The transformation is happening through digital manufacturing and design (DM&D) – a shift from paper-based processes to digital processes in the manufacturing industry. By the end of this course, you’ll understand what DMD is and how it is impacting careers, practices and processes in companies both large and small. You will gain an understanding of and appreciation for the role that technology is playing in this transition. The technology we use every day – whether it is communicating with friends and family, purchasing products or streaming entertainment – can benefit design and manufacturing, making companies and workers more competitive, agile and productive. Discover how this new approach to making products makes companies more responsive, and employees more involved and engaged, as new career paths in advanced manufacturing evolve. Main concepts of this course will be delivered through lectures, readings, discussions and various videos. This is the first course in the Digital Manufacturing & Design Technology specialization that explores the many facets of manufacturing’s “Fourth Revolution,” aka Industry 4.0, and features a culminating project involving creation of a roadmap to achieve a self-established DMD-related professional goal. Overall, this course is great, as it introduces new concepts -with respect to Industry 4.0. But more information regarding real world examples could have been included, in all the modules covered.

I found most of the videos lacking more energy in the way of the communication to inspire and motivate more the listener to engage even more with the content. Additionally, I think the references and content is a bit outdated.

Overall, the course content is generally quite good. However, contradictory as it may sound, the module video lessons were recorded at least a decade ago. Respectively, the course material is old as well, if not outdated.

may be i find many things in the upcoming courses of this specialisation but this course could have many more things to be delivered. but since it is for beginners therefore overall experience was good enough.

Introduction to the DM&D concept was pretty good. The course seemed to be more oftenly based on theoretical knowledge. Incorporation of tasks based on real time examples could make course more interesting.

It was very good course with good resources. It will be better to add some more points in this course itself. No need of splitting it into 10 courses. It would have been great with 6 courses collectively.
