This course focuses on improving Japanese reading comprehension through vocabulary and expressions retention, with a theme of Science and Engineering research at the University of Tokyo. In addition to reading, illustration videos and interview videos allow you to practise "listening" and "writing" skills. You can also broaden and deepen your knowledge in the related areas....

This course is great for anyone who wants to learn about scientific/technological topics through Japanese. It would also be great general practice for someone at JLPT N3/2 level. The course is well structured: each week starts with vocabulary and grammar around a particular topic. Gradually more difficult exercises are introduced over the course of the week culminating in a short interview with a real-life researcher in that topic. I renjoyed every aspect of the course.

The topics on technology, city infrastructure, food science (seasoning, enzymes) are most interesting. The vocabulary and grammar is very applicable to everyday life. The final week 7 examination is a challenge as it tests all previous material studied and also introduces new readings. The specialized vocabulary together with the end of week interviews of various Professors in different areas of study will be particularly useful for those thinking of taking the JLPT examinations (N2 or equivalent). All in all I loved this course. The presentations were really engaging. I enjoyed learning the grammar and completing the numerous exercises. I allocated 90 minutes each day for study and certainly could see my Japanese ability and confidence increasing each week. I look forward to beginning course 2 in this series.

(japanese language learning centered) overall enjoyable, well structured courses, in never disapointing japanese presentation style, clear and neat. materials topic not very recent/deep discovery/research(rather layman short documentry/brief news article like) yet interesting enough. great for those wish to enhance reading jp sci tech related articles, tho intermediate lv, a bit too easy for N1 and too difficult for N5 (japanese KANA/kanji input is a MUST for quizs, may use google translate online input keyboard/writing pad instead? idk). yet still good start for basic lv foreign learner intend to go japanese related academic (or at least read materials) or some sort of extra excercises for JPLT

great course of any intermediate student of Japanese - you'll expand your vocabulary, grammar, and language sense, along with increasing your reading and listening skills - I especially recommend printing out readings and going over them several times, reading them aloud, and please follow the written transcript of the interviews after having listened to them several times. Also shadowing the instructor will be very helpful. 皆さんどうぞ日本語の勉強をお互いに深くやりましょうね:ーD

I really like how the vocabulary is recycled around the common theme of Science and Technology. The topics were interesting. I like the specialist interviews. I have no comments for how to improve the course. I hope that a continuation of this course for JPLT N2 learners will be available on coursera.

I enjoyed it. It was a bit higher than my current skill level, but thanks to the furiganas, I was able to comprehend and learn new words.

Good course overall. Not that difficult if you already had level of N3 and can be finished in only one week. For me, it is more like a review. It would be better if the answers or feedbacks be provided. I got 98% in my final exam but I don't know where is my mistake.
