课程概述

Take the next step in your software engineering career by getting skilled in container tools and technologies! The average salary for jobs that require container skills is $137,000 in the US according to salary.com, making Devops professionals and developers with these skills highly in demand. More than 70 percent of Fortune 100 companies are running containerized applications. But why? Using containerization, organizations can move applications quickly and seamlessly among desktop, on-premises, and cloud platforms. In this beginner course on containers, learn how to build cloud native applications using current containerization tools and technologies such as Docker, container registries, Kubernetes, Red Hat, OpenShift, and Istio. Also learn how to deploy and scale your applications in any public, private, or hybrid cloud. By taking this course you will familiarize yourself with: - Docker objects, Dockerfile commands, container image naming, Docker networking, storage, and plugins - Kubernetes command line interface (CLI), or “kubectl” to manipulate objects, manage workloads in a Kubernetes cluster, and apply basic kubectl commands - ReplicaSets, autoscaling, rolling updates, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and service bindings - The similarities and differences between OpenShift and Kubernetes Each week, you will apply what you learn in hands-on, browser-based labs. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to build a container image, then deploy and scale your container. The skills taught in this course are essential to anyone in the fields of software development, back-end & full-stack development, cloud architects, cloud system engineers, devops practitioners, site reliability engineers (SRE), cloud networking specialists and many other roles....

I audited this course, but it was pretty much what I hoped for. Nice hands on exercises that are the core of a good training course for me.

The Course represents a good starting point for everyone who want to use containers, however, i think it could be better if there were more hands on labs.

Good, practical labs for docker and kubernetes. The practice project and final project give a chance to review the learned concepts and also learn some new features. Module 4 (Kubernetes ecosystem) was a disappointment. The first four videos totalling 27 minutes consisted of pure and dry theory. The speed of the AI lector in the first video is cranked up so that it is difficult to follow the lesson let alone carry some knowledge away. It would be better to replace these videos with abridged reading material as the videos do not use a potential of visual content presentation: it is just fast reading of a prepared text. The quality of quizzes in Module 4 match the the quality of the video contents: they contain questions that are hard to answer without carefully reviewing the transrcipts, yet they have little practical relevance. Other than that I enjoyed the course, in particular the labs. I probably wouldn't take it as a standalone course as there are probably (I hope) other courses that give an easier to understand and practica introduction to docker/kubernetes. As I follow the entire full-stack-developper curriculum it is good enough though.

The course is a very solid introduction to the stated technologies, and I am very glad to have taken it. The hands-on labs were especially welcome due to their focus on command line (CLI) tools, which hopefully leads to much more consistent implementation of solutions moving forward. All that being said, there are some errors or discrepancies within the quizes / tests which could do for review and correction. I can't give exact examples, but a quick look at the forums / discussion area of some of the weeks will reveal the quiz questions that don't "feel" right. And that was after re-watching some of the videos a second time to validate the answers that should have been correct.

The course was a good introduction to Docker and Kubernetes and helped me connect the dots on how each tool is used together. I found the videos themselves to be somewhat dry. Most learning came in the form of hands on labs. There were some technical issues with the labs where results did not match the intended results in the instructions, but nothing that couldnt be solved with some light troubleshooting (e.g. when launching the v2 app for the final project, a cached version of the v1 app would appear; deployment yaml referenced a v2beta2 and needed to be v2). The course would have been better served with additional hands on labs. Overall I would recommend.

Thank you, guys! It's really a great and informative course. Still I've got one moment and it is connected to the fact that I passed it not for working as a developer, but I need it as I work as a technical writers team lead and I'm not a programmer at all. That is why I would ask you if it's possible to add some more reference information in videos as it's sometimes hard to get the idea - what the commands are for, what are the main instruments for work and so on. The course is intended for beginners but sometimes seems it's not. Still, many thanks to you.

I'll let here my opnion about this course. Is REALLY good to get concepts and introduction to the world of containers and kubernetes. But it would be a lot better if in the final project we could do a project to use all concepts learned during the course. Like we learned about deamonset, configmaps, secrets, a lot more and we used in the final project just some of them.

Really good introductory course. The labs were excellent and helped consolidate information provided in lectures. In terms of labs, tt would be good if terminal and instructions can be viewed in separate windows. One screen is not enough. Also, it would be better if an actual presenter gave the lectures rather than a bot.

A fairly well structured course with a lot of relevant content. Great hands-on lab environment provided. Able to try out both OpenShift console, CLI, kubernetes and docker. Some video lectures were a little too fast-paced, but one can go back and slow down as required.

it was a little boring to list all Kubernetes services and after that practicing. I think it would be better if we could learn a little about big picture, and then practice, then learn a little about services and practice... and to the end.

This course has provided learners with a systematic and comprehensive overview of Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift, and related knowledge. However, the Labs sections should focus more on guiding learners to come up with solutions themselves.

Very good introduction course to Dockers and K8s, I would like to work more on the dockerfile structure, also more videos would explain better some concepts, I find sometimes the videos too dense in a short amount of time

Bis auf temporäre Probleme bei der Anmeldung zur IBM Cloud CLI in manchen Labs (und leider auch bei der finalen Prüfung) finde ich den übermittelten Content gut aufbereitet und leicht zu folgen.

Very good content, really well exlpained, step by step, making it easy for noobs to start using these technologies from scratch. I can't give 5 stars due to Labs stability, specially OpenShift.

Very good intro to Containers, good content. I didn't give 5 stars because there are some bugs that make you lose time during the lab sessions, especially the last - and longest - one.

Is a good course, and the labs were entertaining. But I think, the course is sometimes too dense, and sometimes so simple, it would be nice to have a better equilibrium

Ошибки в задании не исправлены, хотя о них пишут на форуме. И плюс последнее задание сразу не освещают, что надо будет делать скриншоты, которые прикрепляешь к работе

Overall course is good, but it becomes better if the lecture explanations are done by a real person. AI voice makes it boring to watch and hard to understand.
