Liz Hill is Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Dispute Resolution for the 2025–2026 bar year and Director of Communications and Development at MWI (Mediation Works Inc.). There, she leads efforts to expand awareness of organizational ombuds, mediation, and negotiation training. With almost three decades of experience in higher education, law, and government, Liz has served in both classical and organizational ombudsman roles, giving her a rare, comprehensive perspective on the field. She began her ombuds career as a Classical Ombudsman for the State of Arizona at the Ombudsman–Citizens’ Aide Office, later serving as an Organizational Ombudsman for Apollo Group and as Associate Director of the Ombuds Office at the University of Colorado Boulder. A Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner (CO-OP®), Liz helped launch Ombuds Day in 2018, an international initiative celebrating and raising awareness of the field. Through her leadership with the ABA and beyond, she continues to build bridges across ombuds models and promote understanding of the role’s value in fostering trust, fairness, and effective communication. Based in Boulder, Colorado, Liz brings warmth, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to this course, inviting learners to explore how ombuds navigate complexity and create meaningful change in organizations and communities.
